Peter Allen is an ecologist-turned-farmer and applies his academic background in complexity science and ecology towards the design, restoration, and management of diverse and agriculturally productive savanna ecosystems.
He and his wife Maureen founded Mastodon Valley Farm, a 220-acre regenerative farm in Southwestern Wisconsin where they graze cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry, convert cropland into lush savanna pastures, and have built an off-grid timber-frame homestead.
Peter teaches on-farm courses and workshops and consults with landowners across North America helping them plan and design diverse, regenerative, productive, and profitable farms. He thrives managing complex systems and enjoys helping others navigate the complex task of making a living regenerating the land.
