REX Program Leader
Darren J. Doherty (Australia) is widely regarded as one of the leading farm planners in the world. Growing up on the family farm in his home region of central Victoria, Darren has worked in over 50 countries and since 1993 has worked with well over 3000 private, corporate and government clients. Since 2001 Darren has directly introduced the world of regenerative agriculture and living to over 15,000 people through his trainings, speeches and broad advocacy.
In 2012 Darren spawned the Regrarians Platform®, based on the work one of his greatest professional influences, Mr. P.A. Yeomans (1905-1984). This ‘methodology of methodologies’ has been carefully crafted to include all of the world’s great regenerative design principles and practices to create a unprecedentedly thorough approach to production landscape planning and management.
Like the late Mr. Yeomans, Darren’s great interests are in farm planning, management and development, agricultural machinery development. More recently Darren has become the curator of the Australian Keyline® Research and Education Storehouse (AKRES) — an important archive bequeathed to him by the late Mr. Geoffrey Booth, an Engineer and Keyline Designer who worked alongside Mr. Yeomans in the last two decades of his life.
At 50, Darren is the proud husband of Lisa Heenan and father to their 3 children, Isaebella (24), Pearl (18) and Zane (16) — all of whom are involved in the direction and work of the non-profit, Regrarians Ltd.
Described by no less than the late Bill Mollison as ‘the future of Permaculture‘, Joel Salatin as the ‘the foremost farm water and hydration planner in the world‘, Diego Footer as ‘the best land designer in the world‘, and Andrew Millison as ‘the world’s foremost Regenerative Agriculture and Keyline Design practitioner’.
Darren’s work continues to be personal and approachable, easy to follow, responsive and shows true leadership in a space and world that needs leaders who listen, truly care and continue to learn themselves.
